Ministering to the least of these

Pastor "GG" has been a faithful servant and minister with Jesus Harvesters and Agape Fellowship since the beginning.  He is the brother of our late founder, Dr. Steve Kabachia, and has been recently called to serve in a very challenging place, Chokaa.  Chokaa is a slum in Nairobi. Slums are a direct result of rapid urban growth where people come looking for jobs and a better life. Many of these slum-dwellers are unable to find work or sufficient housing so they end up in a slum. Slums are characterized by crime, extreme poverty, poor healthcare, and no access to clean water or education. It is a very difficult and dangerous life in a slum.  In the midst of this darkness, Pastor GG felt a call from the Lord to plant a church.  In Matthew 25, Jesus told the parable of the sheeps and the goats in which he talks about ministering to the poor, hungry, and destitute.  In verse 40, Jesus says "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me."  Pray for Pastor GG as he continues his ministry in the Chokaa slum ministering to the "least of these" as He serves the Lord. Recently, GG shared his testimony with us about his call to ministry in the slums.  I share it now with you below.

My names are Rev. Githinji Munyiri of Agape Fellowship Centre Chokaa, a slum in Nairobi. I have spent many years of my calling as a Pastor in Nairobi city. I have been praying to God and interceding for the people living in slums since their life is quite difficult hence causing most of them to lose hope hence perishing in sin.

Recently after praying, God gave me a revelation from Jeremiah 40: vs 4 “NOW AIM TAKING THE CHAINS OFF YOUR WRIST AND SETTING YOU FREE, IF YOU WANT TO GO TO BABYLONIA WITH ME, YOU MAY DO SO AND I WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU”. BUT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO GO YOU DON’T HAVE TO. YOU HAVE THE WHOLE COUNTRY TO CHOOSE FROM, AND MAY GO WHERE YOU WISH”.

Thereafter, I have a mission to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to set free those chained by Satan in social ills and to seek empowering them both spiritually and physically that is aimed at their total deliverance. I believed that a slum church should be a place where a person can experience the presence of God and refreshment, help for his spiritual journey, where one can be a part of a caring group of people who offer encouragement and support and where he can be a great adventure for God.

Since then, I have seen the Lord Jesus working miracles and people getting salvation and changing from darkness to the light.

God has taught me that a servant in His Ministry should always humble and he will use me to reach the un-reached with a gift of Good news. Especially the slum dwellers where salvation has been very rare to them. Since most preachers are always going to those in city centres (high class people; the rich ones). Therefore, my vision is to demonstrate the love of God first to the slums in Nairobi and then to the whole world by:

i. Winning the lost to the lordship of Christ
ii. Building bridges between people separated by social, economic, racial and tribe differences
iii. Equipping and mobilizing a missionary team that can take the whole gospel to the whole world.

As you can see, GG has a deep passion for this ministry to which God has called him.  You can follow GG on Facebook if you would like to stay in touch or even encourage him.   The Chokaa church has a crusade starting TODAY and you can join us in praying for a great harvest among the people in Chokaa.  You are also welcome to donate to this ministry through Jesus Harvesters Ministry and we will ensure the funds reach his ministry directly.
