Jesus commanded us to make disciples.  We believe discipleship occurs in the context of a local church and community of believers. To that end, Jesus Harvesters partners with a local church partner, Agape Fellowship Centre, to fulfill this Great Commission throughout East Africa through evangelism, discipleship, and pastor training. Our late founder, Dr. Bishop Steve Kabachia, was called by God to not only evangelize but also plant churches that will enable effective discipleship. Since 1987, over 150 churches have been planted throughout East Africa in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan. We reach out to local communities through medical clinics, dental care, veterinarian outreach, pastor training, widow ministry, and community service. This work continues today.  Watch the video below to hear Dr. Kabachia share this vision.

Agape Fellowship Centre

Our Church Partner

Agape Fellowship Centre was founded on 1st August 1993, by Bishop Dr. Steve Kabachia and his wife Rev Mrs Jennifer Kabachia as a single congregation.

The history of AFC is best presented as the story of a journey which started in Garissa in the North-Eastern province of Kenya, a semi-arid, desert-like region.

In early 1980s, Bishop Kabachia together with other evangelists of like minds founded the Jesus Harvesters Ministry (JHM) as a non-denominational Evangelistic Ministry. This ministry was culmination of years of work among the unreached people of Kenya.

This ministry has evolved out of a desire to serve God in any way possible. After faithfully evangelizing across East Africa the Kabachias relocated to the US in 1985 to pursue theological training. While there, they saw the need to connect people in the US with the ground-level ministry to the unreached people in Kenya. So, they incorporated JHM as a non-profit mission organization in Alabama in 1987. Jesus Harvesters Ministries now connects people from all over the US to the local church in Kenya.

After completing their education and armed with six degrees between them, the Kabachias returned back to Kenya in January 1993 in their rented house at Southlands in the heart of Nairobi city.

The Kabachias started to pray for God’s guidance in their new church plant project. Occasionally they would be joined by two or three people in their house to pray. God had instructed them to start the new work somewhere along Mombasa road near a roundabout. The Holy Spirit had placed Madaraka as the future home for the very first church planted by the Kabachias, the Agape Fellowship Centre. Facing significant opposition, God started to bring these giants down one by one and what we see today is nothing but a miracle of God.

With focus on evangelism and church-planting, targeting the unreached and the un-churched people groups in East Africa, Agape Fellowship Centre has established more than 150 churches throughout all over Kenya from large towns to small villages. We have also planted churches in other east African countries including South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.

By God's grace, AFC has been able to achieve the following within 24 years to mention but just a few:

1. Building of the AFC multipurpose centre worth over Kshs. 40 million, ($ 400,000) the process which started in 2001 and finished in 2007 December when it was dedicated.

2. The planting of around 150 churches from 1998 – 2017

3. Coming up with a constitution for governing the churches as an organization

4. The formation of the Apostolic Council which is the highest governing body of AFC having representation from the 16 regions

5. Zoning the 16 regional areas by the AFC Church (i.e Eastern, Nairobi East, Nairobi North, Nakuru, Mombasa, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kilifi, Mount Kenya North, Mount Kenya South, Kajiado, North Rift, South Rift, Western, Nyanza and neighboring countries)

6. Establishment of national departmental leadership offices

7. The purchase of 20 acres of land with our friends in Kimana for the construction of an orphan ministry

8. Capacity-building through Harvesters Bible College that started in 1999 and has trained over 350 pastors and church leaders to date

9. The successive holding of the national annual and regional conventions

10. Hosting of annual National Pastors Conference in Madaraka for pastors and their wives

11. A smooth transition of leadership after the founding bishop was promoted to glory
